The Romanian, ranked 65th, defeated Monica Puig in the first roun

Sorana Cirstea, who beat Monica Puig in the first round in Miami, said that she is very happy to be back playing good tennis again.

The 26-year-old Cirstea reached the 2009 quarterfinals at Roland Garros and the 2013 final in Toronto, beating Caroline Wozniacki, Jelena Jankovic, Petra Kvitova and Li Na before losing to Serena Williams.

But the Romanian fell below the Top 200 in 2015, when her shoulder was in great pain.

“Everyone knows I was out of the game with shoulder injuries,” the former world No. 21 said. “Now it's a privilege, and I'm very lucky to [be] back here playing night sessions in Miami on the center court.”

At the Australian Open she reached the fourth round, falling to Garbine Muguruza.

She is No. 65 in the rankings.
