What started out as a trend has become a full-blown pattern, as 21-year-old American Jenson Brooksby is now 5-0 in his career in ATP quarterfinal matches.

His latest triumph in that round came in Atlanta on Friday night, where he withstood a barrage of 24 aces to defeat fellow American John Isner, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, to move through to the semifinals. Isner is a six-time champion in Atlanta, winning the ATP 250 hard-court event in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2021.

The two Americans were playing against each other for the first time.
