Bianca Andreescu made a winning start to her Guadalajara campaign on Monday, defeating Jil Teichmann in the first round of the WTA 1000 event, 6-2, 6-4.

With her one-hour, 18-minute victory over the Swiss left-hander, the 2019 US Open champion improves to 10-0 in her career in WTA matches against lefties.

She’s also 1-0 against left-handers at Billie Jean King Cup, which was counted as tour-level until earlier this year (she beat Arantxa Rus, 6-4, 6-2, in 2019 action there).

Her last loss to a lefty at any level came in the semifinals of an ITF Women’s Circuit event in Toronto in 2018, falling to Quirine Lemoine of the Netherlands, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Up next for Andreescu in Guadalajara will be the winner of an all-lefty battle between two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and American Bernarda Pera.
