Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas on Monday night, 6-4, 7-6 (4), to improve to 14-1 in his career in opening round-robin matches at the ATP Finals, the only loss in that impeccable record coming to David Ferrer in his debut appearance in 2007.

But there was much more to his latest win—not only was it his ninth win in a row against Tsitsipas, but his victory over the No. 3-ranked Greek was his milestone 60th career win over a Top 3 player.

He’s the first man in ATP rankings history to have 60 Top 3 wins.

MOST WINS OVER TOP 3 PLAYERS IN ATP RANKINGS HISTORY:

  • 60: Novak Djokovic
  • 55: Rafael Nadal
  • 51: Roger Federer

The amounts of Top 3 wins all of the Big 3 have are more impressive given they’ve all spent the majority of their careers in the Top 3.

Broken down by ranking, Djokovic’s 60 Top 3 wins include 14 against No. 1s, 28 against No. 2s and now 18 against No. 3s.

They also include 23 against Federer, 22 against Nadal, 10 against Andy Murray and one against each of Andy Roddick, Ferrer, Juan Martin del Potro, Daniil Medvedev and now Tsitsipas.

Djokovic's win over Tsitsipas also means the Greek's chances of finishing the year at No. 1 are gone—he needed to win the title undefeated to do that.
