LONDON—Australia's Samantha Stosur has hired Miles Maclagan as her new coach. The Brit has coached Andy Murray, Marcos Baghdatis, and, most recently, Laura Robson.
Former U.S. Open champion Stosur had an up-and-down season. She split with longtime coach David Taylor shortly after beating Victoria Azarenka to win Carlsbad. After suffering a U.S. Open first-round loss to qualifier Victoria Duval, Stosur had a strong fall, winning Osaka and reaching the finals at Moscow and Sofia. She ended the season ranked No. 18.
"Sam's 29 years of age, so no one who works with her is going to come in and make big changes,'' Stosur's manager, Paul Kilderry, told The Melbourne Age. "She's got a great game and if someone can come in and add a couple of percent here and there I think she'll continue to have a great career for quite a few more years.''
