After winning her first title since the 2011 U.S. Open by defeating Victoria Azarenka at the Southern California Open, Samantha Stosur says it was just the jolt of confidence she needed before Flushing Meadows.
“This is a huge boost for me,” said Stosur, who struck 20 winners in the final. “I haven’t had great results all year, so to be able to bounce back from last week’s first-round loss [at Stanford] and play better and better each day and come away with this is a good boost going into the last Slam of the year.”
