After suffering his third consecutive defeat this season at the SAP Open, American Sam Querrey reportedly left the San Jose Arena without changing, and at first refused to do his required post-match interview.
The 17th-ranked Querrey, who lost 7-6 (6), 6-3 to Lukas Lacko, returned to the site more than hour later, saying he wanted to grab dinner first. The Southern Californian did something similar after his first-round loss at the Australian Open, but did a phone interview with one reporter, thereby avoiding a fine.
The 23-year-old Querrey is 1-8 since reaching the fourth round of the 2011 U.S. Open. Querrey, who reached the San Jose semifinals last year, has to defend 500 points as Memphis champion next week. Davis Cup captain Jim Courier recently told TENNIS.com's Peter Bodo that he believes Querrey is suffering from problems related to his racket strings.—Matthew Cronin
