Nathalie Tauziat says she will not resign from a French Tennis Federation committee just because she testified in favor of former coach Regis de Camaret, who was jailed for eight years after being found guilty of raping two female players aged 12 and 13. FFT director general Gilbert Ysern had called Tauziat’s testimony “deeply disturbing” and asked her to resign.

“I have two months in office,” Tauziat said to French newspaper Sud Ouest. “I have no reason to do so. I did not know that testifying in court was a crime.”
Tauziat had established a tennis academy in St. Tropez with de Camaret. The former Wimbledon finalist currently coaches young Canadian pro Genie Bouchard.
“I am very responsible,” Tauziat said. “I am the fuse in the case. There were 20 witnesses at the trial in his favor. They have not been publicized. If Regis is guilty, he must pay. But no one should give me lessons.”
