The Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) announced that it received 96 suspicious betting alerts in the third quarter, including two at Grand Slams.

There was an increase in the amount of agreements the TIU has with betting companies to share alert data, it said, contributing to an increase in the number of alerts.

The Grand Slam alerts involved a match at Wimbledon, and another at the U.S. Open. There were no alerts for ATP or WTA matches, but there were nine for women's International Tennis Federation events. The remaining alerts came from lower-level men's events.

There have been 217 alerts through the first three quarters of 2016.

Suspicious betting patterns can indicate potential match fixing, but can also occur because of player injury, odds setting and other circumstances.
