Inevitably, when you write a post like yesterday's Pressing Matters, about a group of people, you run the risk of neglecting some folks who ought to be included - this, BTW, is a problem I often have when I'm tempted to throw a few of your own names into a post. If I mention, oh, Lucy, or Ray S., in some context that might also apply to D-Wiz or Juan Jose, it doesn't seem quite fair. I always find myself wondering, Gee, won't so-and-so feel slighted if I don't mention him/her as well?

Well, I neglected to mention some of our most valued colleagues in the Internet tennis community, including the ESPN tennis crew, which features two of our favorite tennis writers, Greg Garber, who gets pulled away from tennis during football seasons, and Bonnie DeSimone (she has an interesting commentary on Laura Granville's career here ).

ESPN, of course, is the 800-pound gorilla of sports coverage, and I should have acknowledged the conglomerate when I hat-tipped L. Jon Wertheim,  and our own Tennis.com, as sites that enjoy the luxury of being under the wing of a big media outfit. The frustrating thing about ESPN, though, is that it's so darned big. When I went to the home page this morning and punched "Laura Granville" in the search box, it returned zero results. Then I tried to navigate through the tool bar at the site, and couldn't find tennis. I've had this problem before, trying to track down Bonnie's stuff. Note to 800-pound gorilla: put in a drop down, "Choose Your Sport" menu in a box somewhere on the home page, even if  you also have the major sports one-click away in the tool bar.

The best policy, I guess, is to bookmark the tennis home page at ESPN. On to other matters. . .
