In the Hamburg second round against Cristian Garin, the German gifted tennis fans with a jumping tweener from the baseline, thanks to his quick thinking. “You better be kidding me,” the announcer reacted. “And that was not showboating. He improvised.”

It’s not easy to pull of tricky shots against Novak Djokovic, but that’s what Ymer managed to achieve in his opening round in Paris against the top-seeded Serb. Despite a straight-set loss, the 22-year-old Swede did have his moment in the match when he ended a rally with a well-executed crosscourt tweener to win the point. Djokovic appreciated it. So did we.
