The Eastbourne Interview: Barty reflects on her whirlwind month

In June, the 23-year-old Aussie won the French Open and Birmingham, and took over the No. 1 ranking. On Monday, she withdrew from Eastbourne with a right arm injury.

It's been a whirlwind month for Ashleigh Barty, having won her maiden major in Paris, following it up with the Birmingham grass title and dethroning Naomi Osaka to take over the WTA No. 1 ranking.

"It's been an incredible month. It really has," Barty told Tennis Channel's global correspondent Prakash Amritraj. "After the French Open we were able to sneak a couple of days into the bell frame, play a little of golf just to unwind and relax."

The 23-year-old was set to play Eastbourne this week, but withdrew Monday with a right arm injury.

If she does play Wimbledon, Barty will be the top seed at a Grand Slam for the first time in her young, yet successful, career. She's aiming to be the first woman to back up a French Open title with Wimbledon since Serena Williams in 2015.
