We were supposed to get a clash between Nick Kyrgios and Jannik Sinner a few weeks ago in the Indian Wells quarterfinals, but the Italian withdrew before it began with an illness. But the draw gods have worked in our favor, and we'll finally see them collide Tuesday in Miami. It will be the first-ever singles meeting between the two, and on a big stage—it should be worth the wait.
This is an opponent that should bring the best out in Kyrgios. The 26-year-old has said that he's “never played someone who hit the ball as hard” as Sinner, who he faced in doubles at the Citi Open last August. When Kyrgios has that type of respect for a player, you can usually count on him to be locked in. His effort and focus levels also haven’t been issues as of late; not surprisingly, Kyrgios has playing some of the best tennis of his career.
