If you sometimes mishit your forehand, you’re not alone. There are millions of us. But thankfully there’s an easy solution.

One of the best ways to minimize mishits is to line up the ball prior to contact using your non-racquet hand. Picture yourself walking into an unfamiliar and dark room. You extend your hands to make sure you don’t walk into a wall or a piece of furniture. Imagine doing the same thing with your forehand by using the extended fingers of your non-racquet hand to help you line up and judge your distance to the incoming ball. Then, right at contact, your left hand (assuming you are right-handed) will relax as you swing through the shot into what’s known as the follow through or release phase of the swing.

This simple addition to an otherwise good swing at the ball will minimize mishits and help your forehand become more solid and consistent.
