BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) Novak Djokovic will skip defending Davis Cup champion Serbia's first-round series against India.
On his official website, the third-ranked Djokovic cited fatigue after winning the Australian Open and Dubai titles. The three-day series in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad begins this weekend.
Serbia is still a favorite with Viktor Troicki and Janko Tipsarevic playing singles.
Somdev Dewarman and Rohan Bopanna will play singles for India, while Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi will play the doubles.
Serbia won its first Davis Cup title by beating France 3-2 in last year's final in Belgrade. India is bidding to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1996.
