American Tommy Paul added his name to a decorated roll of honor at the BNP Paribas Nordic Open in Stockholm on Sunday by capturing his second career singles title in the Swedish capital.

Three years ago, Paul lifted his first career ATP singles title in Stockholm, and added a second crown to his trophy case with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov on Sunday at the Kungliga Tennishallen. Paul is the 12th man, and fifth American, to win multiple titles in Stockholm since the event began in 1969, joining Arthur Ashe, James Blake, John McEnroe and Stan Smith.

Paul, seeded fourth, didn't lose a set throughout the week before he toppled Dimitrov in one hour and 25 minutes. Having previously triumphed indoors in Dallas in February and at the Queen's Club on grass in June, Paul is the fourth man to win three or more ATP singles titles this season, joining Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Matteo Berrettini.

“I feel like every match I played a little bit better and better,” Paul said. “Today I came out playing amazing, so I was definitely happy with the performance.

"It's a very special place for me. This is where I got my first title a few years ago and to come out and play the level of tennis I did this week, it's been a dream."

The win is also critical in Paul's hopes for qualfying for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, which will be held next month. He and Dimitrov were trading the 10th spot in the ATP race with their dueling wins throughout the week, with Paul's final victory securing him the No. 10 position heading into next week.

Paul now sits 495 points behind eighth-place Andrey Rublev for the final qualifying spot. Paul will play at the ATP 500 in Vienna next week, while Rublev is in action in Basel, Switzerland. Dimitrov and Alex de Minaur are also in the mix.
