From fanless stadiums to endless quarantines, this year has been about embracing the new normal. To help recap an unforgettable season, Baseline is spotlighting the Top 10 Quotes of 2021.

Without further ado, let's start with No. 1:

1. "Jenny or Jennifer?"

This first quote comes from the first Grand Slam of the season in Melbourne. Fresh off her inspiring US Open run, Naomi Osaka found herself in top form at the Australian Open as she moved past Ons Jabeur, Garbine Muguruza, and 23-time major champion Serena Williams in the semifinals.

In the final round she met once again with former UCLA standout, Jennifer Brady. The two squared off at the 2020 US Open, with Osaka inching past the American. However, the Aussie Open's final was a different story. The then 23-year-old Osaka seamlessly posted an impressive 6-4, 6-3 score to claim her fourth Grand Slam title.

With her genuine smile and slight awkwardness during speeches, Osaka always finds a way to entertain the crowd and this time was no different.

Standing close to the mic, Osaka began her speech: "Firstly, I want to congratulate...do you like to be called Jenny or Jennifer? Osaka quickly turned to ask Brady her name preference. Brady quickly replied, "Jenny."

Do you like to be called Jenny or Jennifer? Osaka to Brady during the Australian Open trophy ceremony

Perhaps it was the high-volume crowd or the heightened emotions of winning her second Australian Open, but clearly the current world No. 13 misheard Brady. She continued with her speech:

"Firstly I want to congratulate Jennifer, we've played in the semis of the US Open a couple of months ago and I told everyone that would listen that you're going to be a problem and I was right," Osaka said laughingly.

Osaka didn't quite get the name memo, but she did understand the assignment on court that day. She also took to Twitter later on to apologize and admitted she was confused when the crowd continued laughing during her speech.

It's okay Osaka, we applaud and thank you for providing much needed light-hearted joy.
