The brightest lights of women's tennis, both perennial and new, came out at the Rooftop Gardens in Kensington ahead of Wimbledon's start. On the heels of the Indianapolis 500's checkered celebrity carpet, Wimbledon's annual event featured green turf on which the ladies strutted and posed, and tennis-ball "chains" in lieu of velvet ropes.

Among the elite on hand: Venus Williams, Serena Williams, 2011 finalist Maria Sharapova, last year's victor Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki, and Agnieszka Radwanska. Also gracing the green carpet: Standouts (for better or worse) such as Li Na, Ana Ivanovic, Anne Keothavong, Elena Vesnina, Sabine Lisicki, Vania King, Sorana Cirstea, and more. Here are the Spin's five favorite looks from the event:

—Keothavong: Natural beauty and subtly smoldering dress. She hits all the right notes.
—Sharapova: Sticking with her loose look from her Parisian photo shoot, in an Antonio Berardi white number, the newish No. 1 gives good face, per usual, with flawless makeup and movements. Quintessential pro.
—Li: Silver dress, blue bow-adorned heels. It's the perfect funky look for a refreshingly quirky and fun woman.
—Vesnina: Her green dress may be the best use of color on the WTA carpet at Wimbledon 2012. Flattering hair to boot.
—Kvitova: Alexander McQueen red gown, check. Pretty blue eyes popping, check. Lovely classic hair, check. A wonderfully elegant look for the defending champion. Petra's hardly looked better.

And here, our fashion foibles:

—Venus and Serena: It isn't that the looks are bad, even if they seem like Salt-N-Pepa circa 1996, but they are just rather "meh" by the Williams' standards, Venus in Amanda Wakeley (leftover fabric from her 2011 Wimbledon jumper?) and Serena in purple Burberry. Younger sister's frock color is the sole notable bit here. Surprising.
—King: This look just has multiple personalities, none of them functional. It's not for this event, garnering second looks in the worst way.
—Wozniacki: The hair is high and silly (Gwen Stefani in 2004?), and her trademark cross necklace is the wrong jewelry, awkward for the dress's neckline.
—Ivanovic: No real qualms with the Matthew Williamson dress (she likes 'em short), but the up-do styling distracts from AI's pretty face, and renders her less youthful looking.
—Jankovic: What do these stylists have against the Serbs? The color is good on her skin tone, but JJ's entire look somehow makes her appear 20 years older.

The ball is in your court, Spinmeisters—whose glamorous look do you love, and who do you deem in need of fashion schooling?
