Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who has been without a coach for the past year, says that not being able to talk to a coach overnight when his second-round match against Cedrik-Marcel Stebe was delayed didn't affect him.
"I did my debrief on my own, but then it was pretty easy to do," he said. "I'm not the guy who invented tennis, you know," he said. "So it was easy. I mean, yesterday I was not aggressive enough. The conditions were not in my favor. So it was a bit complicated. But in my head I was very confident because I knew that—provided it would rain today, I knew that it would be better, that everything would be all right today. I knew that after my first set I was probably on the defensive too much yesterday, and that if I managed to get in the court I would start attacking more."
