Britain’s Elena Baltacha is concerned about potential traffic nightmares during Wimbledon if planned Tube (subway) strikes go off. Thousands of fans use the nearby Tube stations at Southfields and Wimbledon, as the streets entering the suburb where the tournament is held are very narrow. "You want people to be able come and enjoy it, especially when a lot of people wait all year for the day they've got tickets," Baltacha told the Evening Standard. "I hope they sort it all out."

Former British No. 1 John Lloyd added, "It would be horrendous in terms of the amount of extra traffic on the roads if the strike happens. It would also be a terrible advert for Britain in terms of disruption to a major sports event—particularly with the Olympics next year. The strikes are due to go off on June 19—the day before the Wimbledon starts."
