CoCo Vandeweghe and her coach of two years, Jan-Michael Gambill, have split. Vandeweghe told TENNIS.com that the parting was mutual and credited Gambill for helping her improve during the time they spent together. The world No. 192 will work with USTA coaches at the U.S. Open, where she will have to qualify.
American Christina McHale has also returned to the USTA coaching fold after spending much of this season working with her junior coaches from New Jersey. McHale has seen her ranking drop from a career-high No. 24 last August to her current No. 114. She has a 2-8 record since she qualified and reached the second round of Madrid in early May.
