American teenager CoCo Vandeweghe has parted ways with USTA coach Tom Gullikson, TENNIS.com has learned. The split, which wasn't planned, was said to be amicable. The two stopped working together after Vandeweghe fell in the first round of Stanford to Rebecca Marino. Vandeweghe has yet to begin a formal search for a new coach.

Vandeweghe moved away from her home base in Southern California last year to Florida to work with USTA Player Development and to better focus on her tennis, but according to sources, her mother, the former Olympic swimmer Tauna, is now heavily back in the picture. Vandeweghe told TENNIS.com that is not the case—that the reason why she tweeted 'Not quite correct' is because she disagreed with the statement about her mother, and that she is not involved in a greater capacity than before.

Vandeweghe also parted ways with her agency, IMG, last spring. She said that she has signed with Lagardere agent John Tobias, who also represents world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka. She is considering other coaches. Gullikson is the former U.S. Davis Cup captain as well as the coach of former world No. 1 Pete Sampras.
