After losing his first 13 matches against Rafael Nadal, Fernando Verdasco is now on a two-match winning streak against his fellow lefty countryman. The Spaniards hadn't played each other since 2012, when, on the hallowed blue clay of the Madrid Open, Verdasco beat Nadal 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.

Today's match in Miami was another three-setter, but this time Verdasco had to serve it out, after already having failed to convert a match point. But Verdasco did his best to try and win with a break once again—watch this point, with Nadal serving at 2-5 in the third:

In the end, it was 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to Verdasco, who will play Juan Monaco or Guillermo Garcia-Lopez for a spot in the quarterfinals.
