Venus Williams survives little known Czech Sandra Zahlavova 6-7(6), 6-0, 6-4 in the second round of the Australian Open.
In the tiebreak against Zahlavova, Venus leaned to her left to hit a high backhand swing volley and strained her Psoas muscle, which caused her to scream in pain. She lost the tiebreaker, took a medical timeout, and came back with a wrap on her right leg
"It was a bit of shock and just kind of involuntary," said Venus, who will play 31st seed Andrea Petkovic in the next round. "I think this is probably the most acute injury that I've ever had. But I just wanted to stay on the court and try to survive and see if I could feel better another day.”
