Venus Williams returns to WTA action after fashion forays

Venus Williams recently put a streak in her curly hair and then returned to the professional tennis court, debuting in Luxembourg with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Swiss wild card entrant Belinda Bencic. It was Venus' first WTA match since her second-round ouster at the defensive hands of Angelique Kerber in the U.S. Open. (In truth, Venus was done in then by her own 16 double faults and 60 unforced errors.)

ESPN.com caught up with Venus earlier this month to talk about her fashion influences (Diane Von Furstenberg and Ralph Lauren) and her own thoughts on style and function. Just after the Open, ESPN also tackled the elder Williams sister's style line, in addition to those by Maria Sharapova and David Beckham and other athletes. She also hosted a showcase of her new EleVen line that featured a lineup of athletes, dancers, and trainers during New York Fashion Week.
According to Women's Wear Daily, "The spring line hits retailers in December, while capsule collections have already been introduced online and in specialty stores and pro shops." A Spin favorite is her Olympic dress, (photo at right, by elevenbyvenus.com) too short-lived to be properly appreciated, as she fell in London also to Kerber.
What say you to these styles, Spin Nation?
