Victoria Azarenka's appearance in Madrid this week is the start of a planned five-tournament run for the Belarusian during the next couple of months.
Azarenka has played a limited schedule since 2017 because of travel restrictions around a custody battle involving her son, Leo, who was born in 2016. But she appears to have reached an agreement allowing her to travel with her son and play the clay and grass-court seasons.
"I'm playing all the way through Wimbledon," she said, speaking to press at Madrid. "I play Rome, I play Paris, I'm going to play Mallorca, I'm going to play Wimbledon. That's my schedule for the next couple months. It's definite."
