You might say it's a Hall-ogram.

Roger Federer will go where he hasn't gone before (and stay there) next week when he appears as a hologram at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Fed will display some of his trademark strokes when the museum's exhibits reopen after a lengthy renovation project; his laser forehand will be replicated by a system of laser-motion lighting.

He will share about his gusto for tennis by way of a Top 10 list as well, decidedly David Letterman-esque from him as the grand re-opening coincides with the date of the late-night TV host's last show. Fed's appearance arrives as part of a $3 million upgrade project, headed up by the hall's CEO, Todd Martin, and it opens on May 20. Here's a preview:

The hologram will be the first to populate a sports museum stateside, the Hall of Fame said in a statement. Reimagined galleries, including at-length installations of tennis fashion over time, figure into the museum's redesign, embarked on by a team of specialists to include more interactive elements in addition to the wealth of vintage pieces.
