Video: Richard Gasquet rips off his socks on court

After losing a first-set tiebreak at the U.S. Open on Monday evening to Milos Raonic, Richard Gasquet was repulsed at how he let the first stanza of the match slip away. So, in true Richie Tenenbaum fashion, he proceeded to remove his shoes and socks and throw the latter out onto the court during the changeover. See it here:

Gasquet ultimately came back to seize the match, a thrilling encounter that tapped out by the count of 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 2-6, 7-6 (9), 7-5. He withstood the assault of 39 aces among 102 winners off Raonic's racquet, including one serve marked at 143 miles per hour. Gasquet also girded himself on Raonic's match point at 8-7 in the fourth-set tiebreak, claiming the match in four hours and 40 minutes on a piping-hot New York night.

Raonic is now 0-4 in his career in fourth-round Grand Slam matches. Meanwhile, Gasquet improves, to a degree, to 2-15 in Slam fourth-round bouts.

His reward? He gets perennial terrier David Ferrer of Spain in the quarterfinals.
