It has been in the news again recently, and thus here are the Spin's top seven TV tennis clips featuring (read: sending up) the age-old habit of grunting, alternately popularized and pilloried in the women's game especially. Stay tuned to the end for Maria Sharapova's own "best" grunt ever.
+ This one **from *American Dad*** easily wins Best Grunt among the lot, and it's subtly Dinara Safina-esque but, really, beyond any pro.
+ Serena Williams handled **David Letterman's query** about grunting with aplomb and deft humor, invoking the name of Monica Seles and noting, "You have to have role models when it comes to grunting."
+ Tim Henman (of all people) joined an episode of UK comedy panel show A League of Their Own and **offered his best rendition** of a WTA sound effect.
+ Tina Fey and Amy Poehler went **tête-à-tête with their grunts** (and word choice) in an A.S.S.S.S.C.A.T. Improv special.
+ From Family Guy, **this deleted scene** is brief and droll. And, as Bill Shakespeare told us, "Brevity is the soul of wit."
+ Not the funniest of the bunch, but **The Office** was not to be left out.
+ Here, as promised, is the **wonkiest grunt** of Sharapova's career.
Now it is time to pose the obvious question: Yes, indeed, what did I miss? Also, what is your own favorite here or elsewhere on the wide web of sports?
