PEP TALK  Nike has a seemingly random but accessible and thoughtful video out featuring actor Bobby Cannavale with the tagline, "Champions weren't born champions. They were born babies." Therein, pint-sized versions of Serena Williams, LeBron James, Neymar Jr., and more sports stars rise up (or just roll over) in cribs as he inexplicably paces a crowded infant room and delivers fine-sounding matter-of-fact-isms to his tiny congregation. Would've loved to be a fly on the wall for this multimedia-marketing meeting. And yet, it's effective: 23 million viewers can't be wrong.

GIMME SHELTERClear the Shelters Day took place recently, and the likes of decorated Olympians Venus Williams, Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Missy Franklin, Alex Morgan, and more staged a photo shoot with some adorable young dogs ready to be rescued. YOU BETTER WORK Check it out: a day in the life of Marlon LeWinter, one of Venus' operatives at the EleVen by Venus brand. Plus, Venus debuts her latest line of athletic style at a Montreal event.

FOR LOVE OF COUNTRY  Olympic times call for Olympic measures. Jack Sock and Vasek Pospisil's "bromance" has been put on pause by a bid for Rio glory by Pospisil and countryman Daniel Nestor. Says here these two Canadians, with major doubles titles independent of each other, could make quite the run in Brazil this month. For now, yes, indeed, they get Sock and partner-pal Nick Kyrgios in round 2 in Toronto.

On top of it all, Kyrgios and Sock seem to be having a ball together.
