Hitting hot shots is very much a part of Dustin Brown's game. And the Jamaican-born German, who has become known for his attention-getting winners, admitted as much.

The ATP YouTube page highlighted Brown twice last week as he won the Aegon Manchester Trophy. He hit an incredible diving volley and a tweener against Rajeev Ram, and followed that up with another diving volley against James Ward.

"A lot of it is how I am and how I learned to play tennis,” he said, according to the ATP site. “It’s intuition, and when the balls go in, everyone’s happy. I hit the house behind the court, [and] everyone says, ‘What an idiot. How can he do that at 2-2 in the tiebreak?’”

But the 30-year-old now sees the unpredictability as a feature of his attacking play, with its own advantages and disadvantages.

"The most important thing I’ve learned is to come to terms with my tennis," he said.

His unconventional style has helped him earn some notable victories, including an upset of Rafael Nadal in the second round of Wimbledon last year.

The win at the All England Club was fitting, as it came on Brown’s preferred surface. He enjoys the speed that comes with playing on grass.

"The grass-court season is my season,” he said. “The crowds here in the U.K. have always supported me."

His challenger title has taken him back into the Top 100, to No. 86 in the rankings.
