It's another drenched day at Wimbledon; no shocker there. Taken by surprise, though, was dear Sabine Lisicki, who found herself momentarily whelmed by a peal of thunder. It was nothing that came off of the racquet of her foe, Marion Bartoli, but rather the onset of more heavy rain and lightning over the All England Club.
More than a bit ironic that the 21-year-old Deutsch damsel (perhaps too soft a noun for her steely game) could be spooked by rolling thunder, she being the one wielding a mighty serve that's gone "boom!" a few times in this tournament—she used it to save her two match points against Li Na and rained down a 124-mph ace that remains the fastest of this women's event.
Said Lindsay Davenport, one who would know: "I can't ever remember it raining this hard, with thunder, lightning."
But is Lisicki's "yikes" reaction to the not-so-friendly skies more amusing than, say, Daniela Hantuchova's at the Madrid event this spring? Simply put, who wore it better, this dreadful weather?
