Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario wed businessman Jose Santacana last weekend at a private ceremony at the Castillo de la Perelada in Girona, Spain, near her hometown of Barcelona in Spain’s northeastern Catalonian region.

Amongst the 100 guests at the castle were her mother, Marisa, who was a fixture during her matches while Sanchez-Vicario played on the WTA Tour, and her father, Emilio, who gave her away.

Her siblings, brothers Emilio and Javier, both pro players as well, and her sister, Marisa, were also in attendance with their respective families. The timing of the wedding worked out particularly well for Emilio Sanchez, who as Spain’s Davis Cup Captain, could then turn his attention to the Davis Cup semifinal against the United States at Madrid this weekend.

The bride, 36, wore an off-the-shoulder tiered lace dress with white floral ornaments pulling back her hair. The groom, 33, donned a gray three-piece tailcoat tuxedo.

It was the second marriage for Sanchez-Vicario, who split with her former husband Joan Girona, a sports journalist, in 2001.

The four-time Grand Slam champion and eight-time runner-up retired in November 2002. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007, making her only the third Spaniard--and first Spanish woman--to receive the honor.
