HIGHLIGHTS: Sinner beats rain, storms into semifinals

Ticket holders who waited out the rain on Tuesday night in Miami were rewarded with late-night tennis drama. The same couldn’t be said for Wednesday evening.

Shortly after 9 p.m. local time, Miami Open organizers called off any hope of play getting on. As a result, the flow of matches for Thursday and Friday has been adjusted.

The two scheduled night matches from Wednesday have been split up. Petra Kvitova and Ekaterina Alexandrova, the final women's quarterfinal left to play out, occupies the not before 3 p.m. slot on Thursday. Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz are still slated to duel in primetime, not before 7 p.m. in the launch of the evening session.

In what may come as a bit of a surprise, a WTA semifinal will get on after all should weather cooperate. Jessica Pegula, fresh off saving two match points in her prior round, looks to halt Elena Rybakina's 12-match win streak.

Fourth seed Daniil Medvedev and qualifier Christopher Eubanks kick off the Stadium Court action beginning at 1 p.m. The final-eight encounter between Karen Khachanov and Francisco Cerundolo has been scheduled for not before 3 p.m. on Grandstand.
