The Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati has announced that Andre Silva is the event’s new tournament director.

Silva was previously with Team8, Roger Federer and agent Tony Godsick's agency, and is a former ATP Chief Player Officer.

“Andre is well respected among the players and the tours,” the tournament’s CEO, Elaine Bruening, said in a statement. “His familiarity within these realms will help him successfully navigate the challenges of being a tournament director at a combined ATP World Tour and WTA event.”

Cincinnati is both an ATP Masters and WTA Premier 5 event. It drew a crowd of 199,217 in 2015. That mark set an attendance record for the tournament, which has significantly expanded its facilities.

This year's tournament will run from August 14-21.
