Tennis returned in a big and safe way this week Charleston. The Credit Bank Invitational is one of the first sporting events to return to the city since COVID-19 halted normal life. While April's cancelled Volvo Car Open is usually the biggest draw on Daniel Island each year, the Credit One Bank Invitational is doing its part to keep tennis alive in South Carolina.
The team event has taken the city by storm (though fans are watching remotely) and is pitting 16 WTA stars against each other as Team Peace versus Team Kindess.
Team Peace is captained by Bethanie Mattek-Sands and includes Eugenie Bouchard, Jennifer Brady, Caroline Dolehide, Danielle Collins, Sofia Kenin, Emma Navarro and Ajla Tomljanovic.
Team Kindess is captained by Madison Keys and includes Alison Riske, Monica Puig, Amanda Anisimova, Victoria Azarenka, Leyla Fernandez, Shelby Rogers and Sloane Stephens.
After three days, Team Peace led by an 8-6 margin. Matches on Saturday and Sunday will count as three points each.
