Yanina Wickmayer has won the Auckland title, defeating top seed Flavia Pennett 6-3, 6-2 in the final.

Wickmayer was given a wildcard into the tournament after her one-year suspension for not fulfilling anti-doping whereabouts requirements was provisionally lifted by a Belgian court.

"I had a rough time before coming here and I have to thank the [tournament] for giving me the opportunity to play here," said Wickmayer. "I played almost the perfect match."

With Kim Clijsters playing Justine Henin in the Brisbane final, Wickmayer's victory guarantees both WTA tournament winners this week will be Belgian.
