Venus and Serena Williams have withdrawn support for an upcoming documentary about their careers, which is due to premier at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, the Los Angeles Timesreports.

The film, called Venus and Serena, is being objected to over the content, specifically the way filmmakers Maiken Baird and Michelle Major portray the sisters' father, Richard Williams, as a controlling figure. Apparently, the sisters supported the film at first and gave full access to shoot at the sisters’ homes, hotels, and hospital rooms, resulting in 450 hours of footage.
While the film is said to be mostly complimentary to the sisters, it also explores Richard Williams’ shortcomings, from his various out-of-wedlock children to a manifesto he wrote had plotting out their careers from a young age. Apparently Venus, who has always been very protective of her father, was furious.
It's disappointing to us," Major said. "We have a lot of respect for them and think their story is very inspiring."
