The All England Club (AELTC) will refund tickets for this year's Wimbledon, and also offer ticket-holders the ability to buy tickets for the same session to next year's event.

The tournament has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, along with other warm-up events on grass courts. It marks the first time since 1945 the grass-court major will not be staged.

A statement from the tournament said the amount paid for tickets would be returned, and fans would be allowed "to purchase a corresponding ticket for the same day and court" again.

The AELTC has said it has insurance for pandemic cancellations, which British press indicated could pay up to $114 million. The profits from the tournament go to Britain's Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which is providing more than $20 million relief for the game at a recreational level across the country.

The Club is also donating $1.5 million to local charities and the British Red Cross. Wimbledon, as part of the four Grand Slams, will also contribute to a $6 million player relief fund organized by the sport.

Some alternate programming will be provided during the fortnight of the Championships.
