Sacramento Capitals def. PHILADELPHIA FREEDOMS 22-16
Sacramento’s Alex Kuznetsov held off Philadelphia’s James Blake in overtime to secure a victory for the Capitals. Sacramento had a firm lead throughout, starting with a pivotal win for the Capitals Asia Muhammad and Yasmin Schnack over Philly’s Pliskova twins, 5-4. Philly fought hard to get back in the match with a win in mixed doubles and men’s singles, but fell short to a Sacramento team that executed all night.

NEW YORK SPORTIMES def. Springfield Lasers 22-14
Martina Hingis and the New York Sportimes defeated the Lasers behind strong doubles play. After Springfield’s Amir Weintraub won the men’s singles set over New York’s Robert Kendrick, the Sportimes won the final four sets in their home opener against a very young and talented Lasers team. A huge part of the victory was the play of Hingis in doubles, who utilized her excellent shot-making ability and executed on her first serves. New York has the day off tomorrow, while Springfield will head back home to face the defending champion Washington Kastles.

Kansas City Explorers @ Sacramento Capitals 7:35 p.m. PDT (Watch Free Live Stream)
Mardy Fish, one of America’s top singles players, will compete for the Capitals tonight. This could give them a big edge over a young Explorers squad. The Explorers do, however, have one of the best doubles players in the world in Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi. The key to this matchup will be the women. Both teams have relatively new women like Asia Muhammad (SAC), Yasmin Schnack (SAC), Chanel Simmonds (KC), and Tetiana Luzhanska (KC). They will ultimately decide this match.

Other Match

New York Sportimes @ Washington Kastles 7:10 EDT
The Kastles return home for the first time since winning the King Trophy after a record-breaking 16-0 championship season in 2011. Martina Hingis and the New York Sportimes will try and spoil the Kastles home opener. The Kastles-Sportimes have become one of the most spirited rivalries in WTT. This will be a good look at how New York stacks up against the East’s elite. The Kastles are one of New York’s biggest obstacles at a playoff berth.
