What with the big Masters Series events in Madrid and Paris these past few weeks, we haven't paid much attention to the WTA. Check that, I haven't been dialed in, while Ed I Cover the Waterfront McGrogan has, as usual , been on top of current tennis events.
Anyway, it looks like the WTA Championships in Madrid has produced a lopsided round-robin draw again, with Justine Life's a stitch Henin, Jelena Just play, baby! Jankovic, Serena This was the worst I ever played Williams and Anna R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me. . . Chakvetadze crammed together in the yellow group like rush-hour subway riders on New York's infamous No. 6 train. The red group features Svetlana Cain't beat nobody good when it counts Kuznetsova, Ana Not yet ready for prime time Ivanovic, Maria Medic! Sharapova and Daniela Get me Sveta! Hantuchova. That would be the groupin the spacious, air-conditioned, cozy, club car- with the wet bar.
Henin opens the proceedings against Chakvetadze. BTW, did you see this story about Henin and the Beijing Olympic Games. Talk about raising "green" consciousness!
I like Serena's chances this week, but if I were a gambling man (did I really say that?????) I would let it ride on Jankovic.
