Hey, Twibe. Just dropping by before going into a meeting, to set this up as a place for y'all to gab today. I'm toying with the idea of doing something (semi) inter-active with you this afternoon, so stay tuned for that. Then later I have to record few podcasts.
I had to laugh this morning when I saw a fluff item on the ATP website about Gilles Simon "picking a fight" with a Thai pro boxer. We know how Jackie-Oh, our social director, feels about Gilles. Plus she's a pro wrestling (yeah, you read that right) fan. So it looks like Gilles, unlike most men (so I've often been told), just keeps doing things right. . .
In other stud muffin news, did you see that Mark Philippoussis, conceivably the dimmest bulb ever to get screwed into the ATP socket, is entered in the Aegon Masters event in London? Senior tennis for Scud, already? You have to feel for this guy, who's basically a big, soft lug. His career at the tour level ceased to exist some time ago, and he is officially at the top of my list as the best (or most talented, at any rate) player never to win a Grand Slam event. Maybe I can get David Law to catch up with Mark, who managed to blow a fortune (accumulated back in the days when the sky was the limit) and will probably be seen around play-for-pay tennis events for the forseeable future. That's not a bad thing. As most of the ladies (and male fans of classic strokes) will tell you, he's easy on the eyes.
!78910159 It looks like my red-meat post on Devin Britton will have to wait until tomorrow, but I guess there's no rush.FYI, Britton is off to go train in Spain soon (he may even be gone already), and plans to play a few Futures events there; remind me in a few weeks time to check in to see how he's doing. Britton, it turns out, is a big Drew Brees fan. He attended a recent Saints-No-Longer-Aint's game and had the time of his life. I bring this up because the New York Jets (my co-favorite team, with the Buffalo Bills - have to split my loyalties between game-rich Andes and New York City, right?) play the Saints in the marquee NFL match-up this weekend.
Unfortunately, I won't see much of the game. Our helper with Cowboy Luke, Stephanie is coming up to the farm with us,along with her husband, Matt, and their three-month old daughter, Adaline. I'm worried that Luke is just going to spend the weekend pestering Steph and Matt, because he loves them so much, whereas I'm hoping to give these kids (I think both of them are just 22) a little country-time R&R. That's one good thing about having an extended-cab truck, you can fit six people and all their gear. Back soon - commence the match-calling and chit-chat any time you like.
