Zheng Qinwen has been one of the hottest players on the tour since Wimbledon and she kept that going on Sunday, serving up her third title of the year at the WTA 500 event in Tokyo.

And she truly served it up—she was never broken en route to a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Sofia Kenin in the final. She broke the American once in the second set, and also saved the only break point she faced all match midway through the second set.

It was the fifth tour-level title of Zheng’s career, her biggest previous titles coming at the Paris Olympics this year and at another WTA 500 event in Zhengzhou, China last year. She also has two WTA 250 titles, both in Palermo, last year and this year.

She’s now an incredible 28-4 since Wimbledon.

ZHENG SINCE WIMBLEDON (28-4):

4-1 in Beijing (SFs - l. to Muchova)

And there’s more.

This was the second time in her career that Zheng was the No. 1 seed at a WTA event, and she’s won the title both times—at Palermo this summer and in Tokyo this past week.

That’s a career record of 9-0 as the top seed at WTA events.

The 22-year-old will remain at No. 7 when the new rankings come out, but she'll close the gap slightly with No. 6 Jasmine Paolini.

She’s already qualified for the upcoming WTA Finals in Riyadh. It'll be her first time playing the year-end championships.
