Zverev and Federer's Team8 agency part ways

Alexander Zverev is no longer represented by the Team8 agency, the German player has announced.

"I want to thank TEAM8 for the great work and tremendous experience, but we both feel it's the right decision to have my family take on a bigger role once again," Zverev said on social media.

The agency is partly-owned by and also represents Roger Federer.

Zverev joined the agency following a split with his former agent, Patricio Apey, with whom he recently settled an ongoing legal dispute. Zverev said that securing the settlement prompted him to restructure his team going forward.

"I have decided to go back to the roots and have my family help me with my coaching," he said, adding that he would also have guidance from his older brother and ATP player "Mischa and Sergei Bubka with my management."

Zverev also recently split with his coach David Ferrer, having also previously worked with Ivan Lendl and Juan Carlos Ferrero in addition to his father, Alexander Sr.

The Grand Slam finalist has also run into problems off the court, with former girlfriend Olga Sharypova accusing him of repeated physical abuse while they were in a relationship that ended in 2019. It followed another former girlfriend, Brenda Patea, announcing that she is expecting his child.

On the court in 2020, Zverev won back-to-back titles at Cologne and reached his first Grand Slam final at the US Open.

Zverev is currently in Melbourne preparing for the Australian Open.
