The battle ax that Serena Williams mangled in the midst of her 2018 US Open final loss is up for grabs.

A Wilson Blade model, that racquet Williams wielded did not ease her mindset in the match, as she was progressively irritated by chair umpire Carlos Ramos' famous choices to penalize her once, twice, thrice—and, notably, also irritated by her own relatively poor play.

The racquet was given over to Goldin Auctions by a buyer who purchased it at a collectibles store in New York, where it had found a temporary home after a US Open ballboy sold it there for $500 sans bargaining, per the New York Times.

Said ballboy, Justin Arrington-Holmes, was the one who Williams handed it to after the notorious championship encounter. He also captured a photo with her in the wake of a dramatic match.

With eight bids to date, the cost to own this tangible slice of sports history stood at $4,250 at the time of this story's publishing. The auction closes online on December 7.
