Naomi Osaka's return to tour after maternity leave this week takes her back to the Miami Open, where the former world No. 1 was a finalist in her last appearance at the tournament in 2022.

But ahead of her return to Hard Rock Stadium, the four-time Grand Slam champion first received a special gift in celebration of one of the venue's other global sporting events: the Miami Grand Prix in Formula One. Osaka was gifted a custom Jeff Hamilton-designed black leather jacket inspired by the race that has taken place annually in May as a part of the Formula One circuit for the last two years.

Morocco native Hamilton, billed as the jacket designer for the stars, has been commissioned to design jackets for everyone from Jay-Z and Madonna to Nelson Mandela and Bill Clinton. First making his mark in the fashion industry as the first-ever designer for the menswear line for the American company Guess, Hamilton's most famous pieces have been leather jackets worn by NBA players since the late 1990s; his most famous pieces were designed for championship-winning teams and players like Michael Jordan and the 1996 Chicago Bulls, and Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and the 2000-02 Los Angeles Lakers.

His piece for Osaka is a black leather jacket that wouldn't look out of place alongside a black-and-white checkered flag on the racetrack; in the event's honor, its icons include the Miami Grand Prix logo on the front, Osaka's first name down one sleeve, and other eye-popping details like a large flower on the back.

Osaka wrote on social media that she was thirilled to "have the pleasure" of receiving the one-of-a-kind piece, and she showed off her new threads for in a shoot for Complexmagazine, in which she posed on a blush-pink couch while completing the outfit with black shorts, and black shoes adorned with an exaggerated Nike swoosh logo.

The Miami Grand Prix returns to Hard Rock Stadium in May, but Osaka's comeback to Miami begins in less than 24 hours' time, as she takes on Italy's Elisabetta Cocciaretto in first-round action. The winner moves on to face No. 15 seed Elina Svitolina.
