The Next Gen ATP Finals has its eight players confirmed for Jeddah, with 18-year-old Joao Fonseca clinching the last available spot.

The 20-and-under event is headlined by Arthur Fils, who captured two ATP 500 titles on two different surfaces en route to a Top 20 year-end finish. Fils is looking to go a step further after finishing runner-up last year to Hamad Medjedovic.

Also returning for another shot at the title are Alex Michelsen and Luca Van Assche. Michelsen contested a pair of tour-level finals in 2024 and is the second-highest ranked player of the group.

Fonseca joins a crop of blossoming newcomers in Jakub Mensik, Shang Juncheng, Learner Tien and Nishesh Basavareddy. Mensik posted four Top 10 victories across his season, while Shang celebrated his maiden ATP trophy on home soil in Chengdu when he knocked off Lorenzo Musetti.

Tien surged up the rankings into the Top 125 by winning three ATP Challenger Tour crowns. Fellow 2005-born American Basavareddy also picked up a pair of Challenger trophies to crack the Top 150 himself.

Fonseca made his Davis Cup debut in September, going 2-1 during Brazil's bid to qualify for the knockout phase.

June Flashback: Fonseca in no rush to skip steps

Fonseca memorably burst onto the scene when he ousted Fils and Cristian Garin to reach the quarterfinals of the 500-level event in Rio de Janeiro—a result that compelled the Brazilian to turn pro in favor of playing NCAA tennis at the University of Virginia. He later won an inaugural Challenger title In Lexington, K.Y. over the summer.

The two men who split the four pieces of major hardware in 2024, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, are among the former Next Gen ATP Finals champions. This year marks the seventh edition of the indoor hard-court tournament and second held at the King Abdullah Sports City.
