Barbora Krejcikova needs your help to get a Centre Court LEGO kit made

Barbora Krejcikova is already heading home from Wimbledon with a replica of the iconic Venus Rosewater Dish trophy after having won her second Grand Slam singles title last weekend. But the Czech is asking for fan support to help her get another keepsake for her trophy shelf.

One of the revelatory moments of Krejcikova's unexpected run to the title, which doubled her match wins for a 2024 season that was previously marred by injuries and illness, was how she spent her time during the myriad of rain delays during this year's English summer, which including building LEGO. In a Q&A with fans on social media ahead of her quarterfinal match against Jelena Ostapenko, Krejcikova alluded to being another WTA star who enjoys constructing the models, later telling reporters she's recently completed a Milky Way construction and the Harry Potter character Dobby.

But one suggestion from a reporter, a possible Centre Court LEGO build, particularly piqued her interest.

"Is there one?" she replied, before adding: "If there's one for me, I'll do it."

Someone clearly heard her. On Wednesday, Krejcikova shared the idea concept for a Centre Court model from the company's idea lab (which was first posted to the site last summer). It features more than 2,800 bricks, and many intricate details including the court's retractable roof. According to Krejcikova, the fan-designed project will be commissioned if it receives 10,000 votes.

"I would really, really love to build this," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Will you help me by voting for it?"

Krejcikova has reason to be hopeful. So far this year, the company has built two custom tennis models for the WTA's other biggest LEGO fan: Iga Swiatek. The world No. 1 also likes to unwind with the kits, and has been a brand ambassador for the company in Poland since January.

After Swiatek won her third consecutive, and fourth Roland Garros singles title overall, in June, LEGO gifted her a replica of her favorite domain, Court Philippe-Chatrier, complete with an attached "Iga's Bakery," in reference to her proverbial penchant for dominant wins, plus miniature versions of her team and cat, Grappa, all made of the colorful bricks.

This is by far the most creative and unexpected birthday gift I’ve ever received," Swiatek, who turned 23 in the midst of her latest Parisian triumph, wrote on social media last month when she unveiled the assembled product.

But LEGO didn't stop there. "Push[ing] the boundaries of imagination and reality once again," Swiatek said, they also produced a replica of her Technifibre racquet.

After a few days off following her shock third-round Wimbledon defeat at the hands of Yulia Putintseva, Swiatek showed off her new toy in her clay-court return to practice as she prepares for her second Olympics in Paris.

Whether wielding her on-court weapon of choice made from LEGO bricks or tennis strings, it's safe to say that Swiatek will return to Roland Garros, where Olympic tennis will be held, as the firm gold medal favorite. In 2021 in Tokyo, she shed tears in a second-round loss to Paula Badosa, but takes a 21-match winning streak on clay into Paris.
