FEZ, Morocco (AP)—In the only WTA Tour stop in Africa, seventh-seeded Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic has reached the second round of the Grand Prix Sar.
She defeated Olivia Rogowska of Australia 6-0, 6-4 Monday. She broke Rogowska's serve five times and saved five of the six break points she faced.
Besenova is making a strong start to the clay-court season, having reached the quarterfinals of the Barcelona Ladies Open this month.
Also, Ioana Raluca Olaru of Romania defeated Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, and Olga Savchuk of Ukraine downed Patricia Mayr of Austria 6-4, 7-6 (0).
