Kyle Edmund scored his first Davis Cup win in style on Friday against Serbia. Leading Great Britain without Andy Murray or Novak Djokovic participating in the tie, the world No 67 swept past Janko Tipsarevic, 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 on a soggy day in Belgrade.

Murray flew to the Serbian capital on a private jet to support Great Britain, saying it was too soon after his Wimbledon win to make the switch from grass to clay. The Scot cheered through multiple rain delays, with most fans scattering, to support the 21-year-old Edmund.

Edmund has often spoken about how much of an influence Murray has had as a Davis Cup teammate and fellow Brit, so winning the match with him there was made so much sweeter.

With the rain delaying play, the second singles rubber between Dusan Lajovic and James Ward is postponed until tomorrow.
